Host a Screening of Invisible Differences, Our Animated Neurodiversity Documentary

We have an animated documentary about neurodiversity. You have a room full of people. Let’s put the two together.

It’s called Invisible Differences. On 2 October, its story took Mary Schaus and Joanna Bowers to the TEDxTinHau Women stage. Now we want to screen this neurodiversity film in schools, offices and community spaces across Hong Kong.

It started with a Facebook post

Mary Schaus and Joanna Bowers presenting Invisible Differences, a neurodiversity film, at TEDxTinHauWomen 2026 in Hong Kong

One desperate Facebook post sparked an improbable collaboration between Mary, Talos’s founder, and Joanna, an award-winning British film director and Talos board member. The result was a film (here’s how the Invisible Differences project began). Then, on 2 October, a talk at the Grand Theatre, Xiqu Centre.

Their TEDx message was simple: stop waiting for perfect conditions and begin. Mary put the idea in one line:

If people are aware, society’s mindsets towards neurodivergent people will change. That’s what a screening does. One room, one film, and everyone walks out a little more aware than they walked in.

What the audience said

After the talk, a mum who works with children with special needs wrote to us:

Most differences aren’t visible, so most people don’t know they’re there. Our guide to hidden disabilities in Hong Kong explains what they are.

Why screen Invisible Differences?

  • People remember stories. A film sticks long after a slide deck is forgotten.
  • It fits any audience. Teachers and parents, a whole office, an employee network, a library or a community group.
  • It’s an easy way in. Neurodiversity can feel like a hard topic to raise. A shared film gives everyone the same starting point.
  • It can lead further. Teams that want practical next steps can book Neurodiversity 101, led by neurodivergent trainers.
