About the Project

Invisible Differences is an animated short film giving voice to Hong Kong’s neurodivergent community, revealing both the unseen challenges and the unique strengths that come with thinking differently.

Directed by Joanna Bowers, the film pairs Arthur Fujita’s original artwork with hand-drawn 2D animation. Real interview soundbites from neurodivergent Hongkongers (across ages and genders) guide the story—what they wish society understood, how neurodiversity shapes identity and relationships, and how differences can be superpowers.

The first phase of Invisible Differences has been funded by a grant to Talos Foundation. Your support now will complete the film and help it reach schools, workplaces, and the wider public.

Why This Matters

In Hong Kong, many neurodivergent individuals and families still face misunderstanding and stigma:

  • 45% of parents report their autistic/neurodivergent child is bullied or mistreated in public.
  • 62% experience judgmental stares or comments during everyday outings.
  • 67% of autistic adults are unemployed (likely higher due to underdiagnosis).

This film aims to shift the narrative: from stigma to understanding, and from silence to visibility.

About Talos Foundation

Founded in 2021 by the parent of an autistic child, Talos Foundation is a Hong Kong Section 88 charity advancing neurodiversity awareness. We distribute free bilingual lanyards and buttons and deliver multilingual trainings to build inclusion across workplaces and schools.
